Bruder 04041: Fendt 1050 Vario Tractor with Mechanic, 1:16 Scale

Released in 2016, it was around this time Bruder began releasing a series of extended tractor sets with additional accessories included. And in the case of this model, we have a mechanic theme set with figure and workshop tools. It was also at a time the wheels could be removed which is more vital than before with this set centred around the workshop.

Fendt 1050 Vario tractor

With all the mechanical theme hoopla its hard to remember you still get a big, powerful, multi-functional Bruder Fendt Vario tractor with the usual features found on all models. That includes the steerable wheels, opening bonnet, rear tow/front mount, open cab door and bonnet.

Newer release models do get the usual features, but you also get a few new ones. That includes the removable wheels to extend play to mechanic, height adjustable tow hitch and a fully compatible front mount - currently occupied with a removable counter-weight.

Fine exterior decor is replicated on Fendt tractors only; big chunky exhaust pipe, side mirrors, imitation cab lights, headlight detail and orange hazard lights. And well the steps lead to the cab where the figure can hold onto the support bars.

Bruder Mechanic figure

Multi-purpose Bruder figure carries out the mechanical work, but more interestingly he is capable playing farmer and tractor driver. What he's wearing should indicate multi-purpose roles, as its clothing often found on the people working in the yard.

More interestingly, the work can be completed thanks to poseable limbs; which means he can sit thanks to bending at the knees, he can steer the tractor due to moving arms, along with grasping hands so he can hold onto the tools.

Outside around the tractor he'll kneel down to repair the wheels, well the legs bend to sit on the tractor seat inside the driver's cab.

9 Workshop Tool Set

The mechanic tool set is a group of tools all needed to get under the the tractor to access the chassis; remove the wheels to replace or repair; to getting under the bonnet to make repairs and maintenance work on the engine.

Included is a powerful wheel jack which in turn you position one of the two (or both) support legs under the wheel frame to balance the Fendt tractor while the wheel is removed.

Then its up to them to fiddle around under the wheel hood to make repairs using the small - made from durable plastic - metal effect screwdriver, wrench or spanner - there's an hammer but that tool won't be needed for mechanical work, there's also an imitation toolbox.

Steerable, Removable Wheels

Notable characteristics available in the current Bruder tractor series is the ability to remove all four wheels as a way to extend play in regard to making repairs and maintenance, and it couldn't be more appropriate feature for this set.

To remove the wheels from the axle you'll need to get hold of the small nugget like screw device to take the wheels off the frame. To imitate a mechanic in a real workshop; first tuck the wheel jack under the wheel frame and lift it up, then tuck in one or two support arms to keep it all level.

Then you're free to remove the wheel, but only one at a time. There're a handful of tools found in the repair shop to help maintain or repair the tractor wheels or rims.

Maintain the Engine

Well you have access to a mechanic, they may as well get there monies worth by lifting up the actual bonnet to make general repairs and maintenance. It only has a simple lift up action and well closed shut, it will keep shut.

Under the bonnet is just a simple engine block with detail, so its up to them to use the wrench or spanner to fiddle around imitating repair work, so no need for the wheel jack or support arms here, just the tools and toolset.

Getting under the bonnet is a standard feature in Bruder 1:16 scale series, and would sure make for a lot of fun in the workshop or out in the yard.

Mechanic drives the tractor

Real active steering makes this big toy tractor what it is; as they steer via the steering rod that threads through the driver's cab roof hatch; steer the wheels manually by turning front-axle left or right; or finally reach into the driver's cab and steer the wheels via the functional steering wheel.

Well all options make for a lot of fun, all this should happen with the Bruder figure sat behind the wheel on the seat inside the cabin. He only imitates driving the tractor mind you, but it makes for realistic play with the driver sat in the tractor.

Accessing the interior of the Bruder Fendt tractor happens via the opening cab door through the left side only, so the figure will have to climb up the steps to reach the cab door to get inside.
